Desk analysis
Yandex confirmed a service outage affecting user access to cloud files, linking it to drone attacks that damaged three Russian data centers. The incident combines physical damage to infrastructure with service-level impact, rather than a traditional cybersecurity intrusion. Why it matters: it demonstrates that data-center resilience is vulnerable to kinetic attacks, not just network intrusions. Watch for restoration timelines and whether other regional cloud providers face similar physical threats.

The company also offers ride-hailing, delivery, shopping, streaming, email, cloud storage, and business cloud infrastructure services. Much of the country's internet infrastructure, serving both government and private-sector organizations, relies on Yandex's services.
