Suisun City Declares Emergency as Cyberattack Downs 911 Dispatch
cbsnews.com · 66d ago · August 9th, 2026
Malware infected Suisun City, California's IT systems at 5:45 a.m. Friday, taking down 911 routing, police and fire dispatch, and other critical city systems, prompting the council to unanimously declare a state of emergency Saturday. Officials shut down the entire network to contain the threat and preserve evidence for a federal investigation; emergency calls are being routed through the Solano County dispatch center and officials say there is no imminent public danger. The FBI, DHS, and California's OES are assisting, and officials have not said how the malware entered the city's systems or who is responsible.
