Critical Microsoft Entra ID RCE Flaw Allows Remote Attackers to Execute Code
cyberpress.org · 53d ago · August 21st, 2026
Microsoft has disclosed a critical remote code execution (RCE) vulnerability affecting Microsoft Entra ID, tracked as CVE-2026-69836. The flaw, released on August 20, 2026, stemmed from deserialization of untrusted data and could allow an unauthorized attacker to execute code remotely over a network. Customers do not need to install patches, change configurations, or take other remediation steps, according to Microsoft’s advisory. CVE-2026-69836 carries a Critical severity rating and is classified under CWE-502, Deserialization of Untrusted Data. Critical Microsoft Entra ID RCE Flaw This weakness occurs when an application accepts serialized data from an untrusted source and reconstructs it without adequate validation or safeguards. In cloud identity infrastructure, unsafe deserialization can be particularly dangerous. A successful exploit could enable an attacker to manipulate application processing and execute attacker-controlled code in the vulnerable service’s context. Microsoft’s advisory describes the impact as remote code execution, indicating that exploitation could occur across a network without requiring physical access to affected infrastructure. The company has not released detailed technical exploitation information, proof-of-concept code, attack prerequisites, or specific affected service components. Microsoft also marked the vulnerability as not publicly disclosed prior to publication, but confirmed that it had been exploited. Unlike conventional Microsoft secu

Formerly known as Azure Active Directory (or Azure AD), it is a cloud-based IAM platform that provides Microsoft 365, Azure, or Dynamics CRM Online customers with authentication, policy enforcement, and protection across apps and resources. Tracked as CVE-2026-69836 , this critical security flaw was discovered by Microsoft principal security engineer Robert Fitzpatrick, and it allowed threat actors with no privileges to gain code execution in low-complexity attacks. Microsoft says exploit code for CVE-2026-69836 is not yet available online and added that users don't need to take any action since the flaw has already been fully patched. The purpose of this CVE is to provide further transparency." The company didn't share any additional information, and a Microsoft spokesperson was not immediately available for comment when BleepingComputer asked for more details on attacks exploiting the CVE-2026-69836 flaw. Yesterday, Microsoft addressed four more maximum severity flaws, three of them allowing unauthenticated attackers to escal
