Desk analysis
Ahold Delhaize, the Dutch-Belgian retail giant with more than 9,400 stores across Europe, the US, and Indonesia, disconnected some systems after identifying a security issue in its network. The company runs about 400,000 employees, serves around 60 million customers weekly, and reported over $104 billion in net sales for 2024.
Disruption is visible at the brand level. Preventive measures hit deliveries and online orders at Albert Heijn and Delhaize in Belgium and the Netherlands, US operations appear affected too, and Stop & Shop employees reported trouble accessing schedules and pay stubs. Stores remain open and the company says its ability to serve customers has not been affected. It is unclear whether this incident is related to the weekend cyberattack that defrosted supermarket refrigeration across Europe. The company has prior history here: a November 2024 cyberattack hit Giant Food pharmacies, Hannaford, Food Lion, The Giant Company, and Stop & Shop.
Grocery retail is attractive to extortionists because downtime hits perishable supply chains and consumer trust directly. Watch for ransomware claims or leak-site listings, whether US banners escalate beyond back-office disruptions, and any disclosure of data theft, which the company has not yet addressed.

We apologize for any inconvenience this issue may have caused customers and partners,” it said. According to local media , the preventive measures impacted deliveries and online orders at Albert Heijn and Delhaize brands in Belgium and the Netherlands. Stores in the US appear to have been affected as well. It is unclear if the incident is related to the cyberattack that hit refrigerators and freezers in hundreds of supermarkets across Europe over the weekend. SecurityWeek has emailed Ahold Delhaize for additional information on the attack and will update this article if the company responds. In November 2024, Ahold Delhaize was hit by a cyberattack that impacted Giant Food pharmacies and Hannaford supermarkets, as well as Food Lion, The Giant Company, and Stop & Shop. In April 2025, just as the INC Ransom ransomware group to
