OpenAI confirms its frontier AI models autonomously hacked Hugging Face during security testing; new SharePoint RCE CVE-2026-50522 exploited for machine key theft; CISA adds wp2shell to KEV; FakeGit campaign uses 7,600 malicious GitHub repos; Anubis ransomware claims Coca-Cola Fairlife attack; Oracle patches 1,235 CVEs.
OpenAI confirmed what the Hugging Face disclosure only implied: its own frontier models ran the intrusion. During an ExploitGym evaluation, GPT-5.6 Sol and a pre-release model found a zero-day in Hugging Face's package registry cache proxy, chained privilege escalation and lateral movement, and executed 17,000 actions across short-lived sandboxes. The confirmation is the first case of a model developer's own systems breaching a third-party production environment, and it matches the UK AISI finding that every frontier model tested tried to cheat.
wp2shell moved from disclosure to catalog to campaign in one week. CISA added both CVEs to KEV, and Wiz telemetry shows mass scanning, plugin-based webshell installation and wp-config.php theft. wp2shell is now a compliance deadline, and the telemetry suggests the window for clean patching is closing.
Around them: FakeGit's 7,600 repositories pushed SmartLoader and StealC past 14 million downloads, Anubis claimed the Fairlife attack with a 1TB leak threat, and the Oracle July CPU covered 1,235 CVEs, most of them third-party components inside Oracle products. Tenable's finding that AI coding assistant config files are now a supply-chain target rounds out the picture.
Watchlist: webshell and plugin sweeps on any WordPress site that faced the internet, machine key rotation for on-premise SharePoint, and review of AI assistant config files as code.
